О фильме:
Фильм снят по книге Дэвида Брина. Действие происходит в будущем. После глобальной войны и эпидемии выжившие остатки людей селятся разрозненными группами на территории бывших США. Главный герой предпочитает жить одиночкой. Он скитается вместе со своим дрессированным мулом из селения в селение, давая представления из Шекспира. Правит всем тиран - генерал Бетлехем. Его армия собирает дань и рекрутов со всех, кто пытается жить мирно. Однажды его насильно взяли в армию генерала, но он бежал и нашел в джипе скелет почтальона, надел его форму и взял сумку с письмами. Придя в один из лагерей, он представился почтальоном новых возрожденных Соединенных Штатов Америки. Ему поверили ... Десятки последователей почтальона стали доставлять письма, что привело к вооруженному столкновению сил генерала с новой армией Свободы...
